that I own. These are lovely pieces. You can

cross stitch on them or craft with them. The choice

is yours. I will iron them before I mail them

to you. They are all in Khaki color except for the pink.

There are a total of 6 pieces.

The very large piece that you see is 19X27 inches.

There are 2 pink pieces. One is 8.5 X 9 inches and the

other one is 9 X 9.5 inches.

Two pieces are 8.5 X 11.5 inches.

And the last piece is almost 10 X 12.5 inches.

Winter White

I am getting there! I was

late putting up my tree. This year

I have dressed it in white with small

touches of red. I did not put an Angel

on the tree. I decided to leave it bare.

I think there are enough ornaments to

keep it busy that you hardly notice

it isn't there.

This pic was taken at night. I had a hard time

snapping them. Nearly all of them were blurry.

This pic shows some of my ornaments. There are

white bells with red ribbons, white flowers, white bulbs and white

christmas tree and white snowmen ornies.

I love white or clear lights.And that it the only

ones that I ever use. The packages are wrapped

with christmas paper with red words that say

'Merry Christmas!'

Only 4 pics took. 2 in the daytime and 2 at night.

I did not decorate the outside of my house this year.

Generally every year I decorate with many wreaths.

I even decorate my little stair bannister. But

this year I got lazy.

An Angel

Since my eyes are still not up to par - I

am falling a little behind on stitching.

However my miniatures are still going

strong - at least for the moment.

The Angel was started

over a year ago and finished in January.

She was not hard - I just had to much to

do so she kept getting put on the side burner.

She is a pattern from Serendipity Designs,

(Mar-Bek) titled The Tapestry Angel. Stitched

on 14ct white aida.

I have a few more of

these Angel patterns but I havent started

stitching on any of them yet.

As of yet I have no idea what I will make

with her.

Sunbonnet Thimble Holder

Well they have really cute needlebook

photo's with patterns free for your use.

Some of them are so darling. For a while

now I had been looking at the 1936 pattern

of the Sunbonnet Needlecase. For most of us

we remember the Sunbonnet quilts. I made

some of those in my time and gave them away.

Take a look at this Sunbonnet Needlebook.

Hey - I do admit being a CHEATER. If there is

anyway that I can make it in 5 minutes then I

am happy. This Sunbonnet belonged to a doll

that had a very pretty matching dress and

accessories. This Sunbonnet is not very big.

In fact it only measures about 3.5 X 3.5 inches.

On the inside I glued a piece of felt to the bonnet

to hold needles. However I mainly wanted the little

bonnet to hold thimbles.As you can see I have about

4 of them in this bonnet. It can hold more than that.

If you want one of the Sunbonnet Needlebooks - you

could always find a larger doll that had a bigger

bonnet and convert it. It would be fast and east. You

could also add the little pouch to hold scissors, threads, etc.

But mine was too small to hold those items.

I think that I will put the rest of my thimbles inside

the little Sunbonnet.

I hope that you will think about the Sunbonnets

to hold some of your sewing supplies.

Sweater Weather

Autumn is a very pretty time of the

year. Its not to cold nor is it too hot.

Everyone breaks out with their bulky

sweaters and some are so cold that

their coats are already in use.

I am still wearing my sweaters and

most of the time I am much too hot

to even wear one of those. Yes -

I go outside in a short sleeve

blouse!.

This cross stitch pattern is

Double Decker Floss Bobbin

I have taken many spins around the internet

looking for this floss bobbin. And I cannot find

it anywhere so I am still hoping that it is safe

to put on this blog. If not then Please

tell me and I will gladly remove it.

Click click to print it out. Below I have given
you the measurements so you can make sure
that it measures up.
As I said before it is a little glittery or super
shiny. You can cut it out of cardboard or
whatever you want. However take a good
look at the meat trays. You know when you
buy your meat at the grocery store and
they put your hamburger on one of those
white or black meat trays - then they wrap
it up in plastic wrap with the price on top
and hand it to you. Those meat trays are
glittery like this bobbin floss. Immediately
when I saw this bobbin floss it reminded
me of those meat trays.
These floss bobbins look like those meat
trays but they are thin and I cannot remember
if those meat trays are thin or thick. But it
doesnt matter the thick might be much
more sturdier. Anyway those meat trays
are FREE. You should be able to cut out
at least 2 of these floss bobbins from each
meat tray.

Wrap your ribbons around it or your small rick-rack.
I am sure that you can find lots of uses for this
bobbin besides floss.

Double-Decker Floss Bobbins

I hope that all of you had a very

nice Halloween. Now that its over we await

Thanksgiving and Christmas. I have always combined

both of these holidays together ever since my hubby

and I have been married. I enjoy that season very

much because at those times I am not in the bed

dealing with environmental allergies.

There are all kinds of bobbins to hold floss. Everyone

is familiar with the small cardboard or small plastic

bobbins that is generally used in all of those plastic

boxes. But have you ever seen these?

I found them this past Spring at the Thrift Store.

Someone definitely decided that they did not want

to cross stitch anymore. Anyway I have searched

in vain on the internet looking for these double-decker

floss bobbins. I cannot find them. I do not know if

someone made them or if they were bought this

way. I have never seen anything like them in all of

my years of cross stitching.

So nicely wrapped. They have never been used.

Look at the pile. All of these double-decker floss

bobbins were on huge rings. These bobbins are made out of

plastic but the plastic is not a thick plastic. Also the

plastic seems to have an almost glitter glow.

I will make a pattern for this double-decker

floss bobbin and post it next week for you. I will also

give you the dimensions of the pattern so you can be

sure to print it out in the right size.

Take a good look and let me know what you think.

These are not the same bobbins as I have above. These

bobbins are the large bobbins that sell online. These

do come in double-decker. However I have seen these

online and they do not look like the ones I have above.

Thread Savers is also a source of floss bobbins.

These are very nice and made of wood. The directions

tell you how to use these. Arent these nice.

Of course if you still like to put your floss on those

small cardboard or plastic bobbins then thats okay.

You can keep these bobbins and glue scrapbook

paper on them. You can use pink paper for pink floss,

blue paper for blue floss and etc...

But if you are looking for an inexpensive change you can always

convert those bobbins to the Singer Sewing Machine metal

or plastic bobbins. These bobbins are not very

expensive and look so cute. You can nearly always

find those sewing machine bobbins at thrift stores.

This is the last of my Halloween

patterns. There are 15 of them that I give to

you to do with as you please.. Stitch them

for yourself, for your friends, for charities. Just

please give me the credit for making the designs. I have

not had the chance to stitch any of these. I have

gone over them alot hoping that there are not

any mistakes with them. But human error is almost

always likely. I am keeping my fingers crossed! All of

these patterns are not too big and should be quick

to stitch.

This first pattern is titled

IT DON'T WORK!

As you can see nothing is coming out of the witch's wand.

She is telling this to the witch moon. The words can

be stitched in single or triple strands of black. Stitch it

according if you want the words to pop out at you

or not. That choice I leave up to you. The colors are

up to you to change if you like.

With this pattern, the pumpkins are not happy.

A bad witch turned 3 witches in pumpkins.

She glued them to each other and now the bottom

witch is trying to change the spell. They are doomed!

This one is titled, "A Spell Gone Wrong".

I really like this one. This witch go all caught

up in her spell. She was trying to relay a good

message but before she could do so - the spider

tried to envelope her! This pattern is titled,

"Tangled Web".

These pumpkins stayed in the pumpkin patch

to long. They are angry about it. I like their

eyebrows. This one is titled "Angry Pumpkins".

I had fun with the trees. I hope you notice the little

owls. sitting in the right tree. The left tree has a

spider web in it. The witch moon resides over all of

the trick-or-treaters. Those trees do scare some of them

away. The spooky house is begging all of the little

kiddies to come inside.

Anyway this pattern is titled, "Hallo-Street".

This was my attempt at making a kitchen witch. She has

springy legs and spider web hair. Her broom is bent

and crooked. Her hat is too small for her head. Stitch

her face in green and see what she looks like. She does

not have a name. She's just a plain kitchen witch.

This is a pumkin on a stick giving the spiders a

swing around the pole. He is titled,

"Maypole Pumpkin".

Do you wanna swing?

I forgot to look at my blog to see if I had given

you this one or not. But in case I didn't give it to

you then - I give it to you now. This one is titled,

"Moon Web".

This is an old witch. She has lost part of her hat

and it is no longer black. And her broom shrunk!

She is just titled, "Old Witch".

Two pumpkins are sitting beside each other.

The bigger one knocked the younger one out with

his fist! And now he wants to know if they are still

friends. Maybe the spider on his head made him do

it. This pattern is titled,

"Are we stil friends".

This witch is just pooped! Halloween has just tuckered

her out. She decided to take a rest on the moon.

And the witch moon does not like it. But she is not

getting up just yet. This pattern is titled,

"Witch Nap".

This was one of the first patterns that I made. I even

started stitching this one. I got almost half way throught when

I had to stop. I hope you like

"Witch-Kins".

These next 2 patterns I made to be a BISCORNU.

Either one can be the front. The spider is the same

stitch that I used for the flowers in the bees patterns.

The centers are now spiders. Each pattern has a spider in the

middle. This is to allow the ease of a button or

whatever you want to use for the center as this stitch

basically creates a hole in the center.

For the center you could use 2 little beads as

spider eyes. Thats just to give you an idea.

Even though both spiders work out to be in the middle

of the biscornu - they are basically in different spots

of the pattern. Because one side is a full sie spider

web and the other is a corner spider web.

You could do this Biscornu differently than most.

It would be nice to see black linen or aida cloth with

a white spider web with a brown spider on one side.

On the other side white aida cloth or linen with the

ususal black spider web with black spiders.

I think this would be different and look nice.

Well - I tried to do ugly. Notice the stars on her

dress and at the end of her hat. She has red

frizzy hair and red lipstick. She is titled,

"Fashion Diva".

This is the end of my Halloween pattern making for this year.

I intend on trying to make patterns for each holiday

as long as my imagination still works. I hope you

like them and will use them. Until next year!

A Halloween Set

Back in June and July I was really busy.

I have so much to show you! Halloween

is fast approaching. On my next posting I will

have many halloween patterns to share with you.

Please dont look at the mess in the background as it

cannot be helped. I have a little room But everything

back there is being worked on.

This is my little halloween set. It doesnt set in a basket.

All of it sets in a little halloween cardboard box. It has

a scene painted on it all around the 4 sides. No I didnt

make it. Its just something to place halloween candy or

something like that in it. Here I am using it to place my

halloween stuff in it.

2 witches and a black cat. So cute they are together.

When the sales start coming on and the sales should

be here. You can buy these little stuffed witches and other

little animals for a little of nothing. I love to use these

little stuffings as pincushions. Not that it gets me out of

work but they are just so cute. How could you resist them?

Its better to find a use for them than for them to just sit

around. I bought both of these witches last year when

the sales came about. The little adorable cat came from the thrift

store. He was only 25cents. I see that I have forgotten

to snap a pic of the Chatalaine. Between the witch and the

cat is the chatalaine. The black ribbon has spiderwebs

going all thru the ribbon. I purchased this at

Joanne's Fabrics. An little orance pincushion

has a witch's head attached to it. Its just a brooach

from the dollar store that I got a long time ago.

Next year I intend on

adding to my little set something cross stitchy.

I do like the wooden thread spools. They are just right

for holding a little pair of scissors upright. The top and the

bottom of the spool is just felt cut with pinking sheers

and lightly glued onto the wood. A ribbon of black bats

circle around the wooden spool. They have yellow-green

eyes. I like placing my sicssors in these spools because it makes

them easier to grab on to. I hope you like the fob.

This little fob when I found it at the thrift store was

missing all of its little charms except for the little

plastic orange trick or treat basket. There is a ghost

on the side - it is so cute. Since the little bracelet was

broken all I did was attach a little key ring with some

black ribbon to the bracelet and the ring. I tied it in

a knot and let the black ribbon hang as you see here.

The charms came from Joanne's Fabrics. There is a

black spider, a mummy, a little sign that says happy

haunting, the basket and a spiderweb with a spider.

This little bracelet only had the little black things on

there to hold the charms. It must have been broken

but when I saw it - it was for me. It was only 50cents.

How can you go wrong with that!

My daughter helped me look for something to make

a needleminder out of. We couldnt find anything suitable.

So I couldnt make one of those but I will be keeping my

eyes open for something that will work.

This other item is a needlecase. Super-Simple! I did not

want anything that was not going to hold many needles.

In fact I am kind of getting tired of the cute little

needlebooks that will not hold the threads while you

are working on a project. This needlecase

can be made in a matter of a few minutes.

To make one of these - take 2 pieces of different

colored felt. There isnt any sewing involved. There isnt any

glue either. Cut the outer piece of felt any color and size you want.

Cut the inner piece of felt smaller than the outer piece.

This little pumpkin head is

a little brooach with a pin on the back. This basically

holds my 2 pieces together. This is going to hold

a lot of threaded needles! On the back all I did was

cut 2 small slits to run some ribbon thru. To close the

needlecase all you do is fold it into thirds and tie up

with the ribbon. Sorry I forgot to snap a pic of the

folded needlecase. However it is in the basket in the

very back in the first picutre.

Here's the back of the needlecase. Be sure when

you cut the slits that you do not cut the inner felt

piece.

Ever since I have posted about the potholders - I have

gotten alot of hits on it. This scissor case is a potholder.

In fact Its a biggg potholder. But I liked the design that

was on it. I knew that I wanted to show this pumpkin

so I sewed it together in a little different way that I seew

the others. I hope you like the tiny witches hat!

Here is the back of the scissorcase. I sewed it together

down the middle. But before I did that I sewed the bottom

closed. Super-Simple.

Another little pic of the witches hat. It is small

for my large gingher scissors. The point is made from

a 2 inch piece of felt. It is lightly stuffed. The black

brim is felt and is just a little bigger than the cone.

This is another potholder soon to be made into

another scissor case. I like the ghost and the purple

color. It is so vibrant.

Now - this is a new item that I am not sure that you

will like. My intentions were to have this as a floss holder.

It will hold many of them. In fact it could hold 36. You

wouldnt believe what I made it from. You know those

dishwasher baskets that come with every dishwasher.

Yep - thats what it is. The baskets come in a few other

colors than white. I picked up 3 of these this past summer.

All I did was cut the basket apart and take small ribbon.

This ribbon is the same ribbon that is on the needlecase.

I just wrapped it around the outer rim. A little glue to

start and a little glue to end.

Next year I hope to wrap the floss on it for a project.

I have another one of these that I cut a few strips of pink

flannel not even an inch wide and just wrapped it around

the outer sides just like above. It turned out really pretty.

Halloween is upon us

Happy Halloween!

Its coming closer.

Eyes are still blurry. Most of you are probably

wondering how does all of this get posted if my eyes

are blurry. Thank goodness for my daughter.

She has been helping me tremendously! She takes me

everywhere I need to go and then some.

This first one is titled 'Ghostly Pumpkins'.

This one is called 'Give me all your candy'. It is a

small trick or treater. His hands are in his pumpkin

suit - so just pop the candy in his mouth.

This one is 'Hats off'. Notice that the wiches do not want

to take them off.

'Just Plain Wicked' is stitched in DMC 606 Bright

Orange. Stitch this if you feel wicked!

'Stick Witch Ellen' is more of a young modern witch.

But dont thing she is so sweet. She will put a hex on you.

Help I lost my broom!

This poor little witch was just flying

around and ran into the moon!

Her broom fell to the ground.

Gee - I hope someone will help her!

They are all titled 'Help I lost my broom'.

Three patterns I have made for you -

yet each one has only a slight difference.

This first pattern has a normal spider.

When the witch plowed into the moon

the poor little spiders legs drooped.

This 3rd pattern has a much smaller spider.

As you can see I couldnt make up my mind which

spider I liked best so I decided to post all 3 of them.

A small halloween biscornu or scissor fobs

I am still unable to cross stitch. So I

have not tested these patterns.

Here are 3

halloween patterns that are meant to be

used as a small biscornu or scissor fobs.

Use any 2 of them together to make a front

and a back.

Ghost Boo is either stitched on 14ct black aida or

linen - or you can use 14ct white aida and stitch

with black 310 DMC floss. I drew in a ghost

figure however I will be substituting it for a ghost button .

If you decide to use a button instead of this ghost

then be sure to mark the center of the aida fabric

with an x so you know where to put the button.

The same goes for the pumpkin and the spider patterns.

I will also be substituting the pumpkin for a

pumpkin button

the Spider will also be sutstituted with a button

but the spider web will remain.

These patterns are 30x30.

As you can see they are

not all that big.

Also I want to say that I have never included

directions on this blog on how to make a biscornu.

The reason is because there are so many

directions out there on the subject that I felt that

there was not any reason to duplicate any of it.

On my biscornu patterns the outer stitch that you

see is the stitch that connects front and back together.

That stitch is a running stitch - not a cross stitch.

Free Halloween Patterns

Hello Everyone!

Here are 2 small patterns for you.

The first titled 'Halloween' is the name

for the shadowbox. Its up to you on

how you decide to use them in your shadowbox.

The pumpkin is meant to stand in for the O.

My intention is to stitch up the word Halloween

into one long word and make it into a rectangle

pincushion. My plans are for it to sit on top of the box.

Unfortunately I am unable to stitch it up to show you

how it will look. I hope you like it.

This next pattern is also a simple one. 'Cobweb' is

writing to 'Are u wicked'. This would look stunning

in cream and black.

Feel free to change the colors.

This would also be a great project for those that

do not cross stitch. You could easily do patchwork

in each of the squares - or embroider. It is limitless

what you can do with these shadowboxes.

Maybe I will do one for Christmas also!

Halloween Advent Calendar

When I raised my daughters - Halloween was just

halloween to me. Every year I bought them candy and my

hubby gave out candy.

For many years I walked around the

neighborhoods with them so they could trick or treat.

It gave me pleasure to see the happiness that were in their

little faces.

It doesnt seem that long ago that again I walked the

neighborhood trick or treating. This time it was

with my grandchildren and my daughters.

Now my grandchildren only have about a couple of

years left and then they will no longer

trick or treat anymore. My - how time flies.

This year I have really gotten

into the Halloween spirit. Back in June I bought this

unfinished shadowbox. I knew what I was going

to do with it. Just didnt know how I was going to

do it. I had seen these shadowboxes made into

cross stitched shadowboxes. They were so cute.

I still might make one of those but not just yet.

This box is going to be my Halloween Advent Calendar.

First, I painted it black. Look at the awful paint mess.

Dont worry about that because the

mess will be hidden with cross-stitched

halloween moifs.

My problem came after the paint dried.

How was I going to do this?

Finally after much debate in my

head I decided that I would have my calendar

standing straight up like this instead of turned

the other way as is in the above photo.

This way it would allow for me to

have 4 patterns that were taller than the other

squares in the box. I want to put cross-sitched

witches in these tall squares and other designs

in the other squares.

Also I debated about how I want to store the

candy for the month. Do I want little

handmade boxes or little linen bags?

As of yet I dont know.

I do know that if I use little boxes then I

can put 2 or more of them in each square.

The little boxes would be good if you

have 2 children because you could

cross stitch a number and their names on

each little box. This way including the

very top of the box you could then get

28 days.

However since my children

are grown then I do not have to think

about this matter.

If you have kids

your soluion would be to get a bigger

shadowbox to accomodate your

30 halloween days.

Soon I will start posting the patterns

that I have designed for my

halloween advent calendar shadowbox.

You are free to use my tiny patterns or

someone else's.

Adjust the patterns to fit your shadowbox.

Once halloween is gone put the cross-stitch

items away and display pincushions

on it until next halloween.

9. A list will appear of your blogs. Make sure they are

check marked.

10. If your blogs are not there - below on the right side

According to my doctor it is going to take

6 to 9 months for my blurriness to go away.

I have found that if I use this font then I can

see the words. Its still blurry but I can make out what

the words say.

I put all of the names in a plastic container.

It is easier to shake up that way.

Shake, shake, shake!!

And I pulled out a name.

Bees Patterns

I n a few days I will be seeing who won on the giveaway.

Just be patient with me - my eyes are blurry.

Here are the Bee Patterns.

I give to you first the back pattern.

This is the front pattern.

For the sides of the bucket - I have numbered them.

This is Strip 1

Strip 2

Strip 3

Strip 4 - just connect the pieces together if you are

making a long strip.

For the needlebook just stitch one or more of the bees. Use the

flowers and grass if you want to. Stitch this on to aida cloth

or linen or dont. The choice is yours on how you make it.

I used a sunflower which was a coaster. You know

those things that you use under cups and glasses to protect

your furniture.

For the chatalaine take a strip of ribbon not to wide and

not to thin. I use about 30 inches in length. Stitch together

a little pincushion from felt and be sure to sew a ribbon in it.

Hem up one end of the ribbon but be sure to put the felt

pincushion ribbon inside before stitching it down. Go to the

other end of the chatalaine here you can either add one of those

key rings or use ribbon. This is to attach your scissors.

Fancy these up anyway that you like and be sure to add

charms on your chatalaines.

Okay - where do I start.

First let me say that I realize that some of the

photo's could be blurry - sorry about that. My eyesight has gotten

so bad that in order to see the monitor I was having to have

my eyes literally just a few inches away from it. My eyes

have gotten so bad that I am having surgery next

month. To be brief - I have worn glasses since the 3rd grade.

I am so excited about this surgery!

Because after next month - NO MORE GLASSES!!

NO MORE CATARACTS!

The left eye will be done first and then 2 weeks later the right

eye.

The doctor seems to think that after this surgery that

it will correct my glaucoma issue. I hope that it is so.

So this is my last posting on this blog until next month.

Anyway the patterns for this biscornu and the side of the

yellow bucket will be posted when I return.

Everything below on this posting will be given for the giveaway.

This biscornu is hard to name. so its name is simply 'BEES'.

What you see below is

the front. It has green tufts of grass, 4 cute bees and

blue flowers in different sizes. I wanted the flowers

to look strewn across or like they were blowing.

Flowers come in different sizes and shapes.

The sunflower button in the middle is little. As always

I am doing something different and this biscornu is no

different. This is the first one that I have ever stuffed with

cotton! So this biscornu is not as crisp as my other ones.

However I stuffed it until I couldnt get another piece of

cotton in there!

This is the back. I hope that you like it. Again some of these

flowers are different than others. It is intentional.

The little black & yellow bee is a cute button.

Here is one of the sides.

Again - another side.

Here is the top of the yellow bucket. The fabric is

a pretty pink color with a touch of green and blue.

There are 3 black button bees that have been randomly sewn

around the checked fabric. Below I have hand-sewn a wide

strip of white aida cloth onto the yellow - but not before

I cross stitched on it. There are a total of 4 bees on that strip.

I hope this photo is clear. The green tufts represent

grass. Different flowers as usual are stitched all around.

2 bees are turned to the left and 2 bees turn to the right.

Here is the inside of the empty bucket.

Abracadabra - here is what is coming out.

First is the chatelaine. The large bee that you see

is a needleminder. You can detach it and place it on

your project when needed or store it here for safe

keeping. This way you always know where its at.

There is a large sunflower on one side towards the

bottom and on the other side there is a black bee

button. The little ring is to hold your scissors.

Now the pincushion is of black toile. The other side

reverses to 14ct white aida cloth. The black button

bee is just held in place with a pin. So you can move

it somewhere else if you like. The white ribbon is

perfect for displaying your charms.

The front of the needlebook shows another little

button bee. Its a large sunflower!

I am sorry - I have just realized that you cannot see

the black bee! However it is the same cross stitched

black bee that is on the biscornu. Whenever I give

away anything I make - I always give the needle

that I was using with it.

Here is a little cloth bag with the colors that I

used on all of the projects. And of course it is

accompanied with a little button bee!

Look at what Catherine sent me

Sometimes it is hard to remember what you

send someone especially if you forget to take

a few pictures of it. I sent her about 60 leaflets

and look what she sent me!

A beautiful needleroll. Blue is one of my favorite

colors. She stitched it on linen. I am unable to stitch on

linen. It is so lovely.

It says 'Forget me not'. This has to be

the most prettiest thing that has ever

been sent to me.

I am still speechless!

She also sent me a small box with a beaded piece

that she stitched. I have to find something cutsy to

go inside.

This is the side of the little box. Isnt it cute.

Even though I do not wear hi-heels any longer. I still

like them. This one is crocheted and glittery. I know the

glitter is hard to see. I will have to look for fabric to

make this into a sweet pincushion.

These christmas books are just swell. There are so

many projects in here to do. It is hard for me pick

which one to do first - help I need 5 arms!!

With all of them cross-stitching a project.

I believe my friend sent me back 60 leaflets. And I love

Paula Vaughan's patterns. It is nice to exchange patterns
because sometimes there could be some patterns that
you have never seen before. There are many of them
here that are new to me.

Catherine sent me loads of aida cloth. The pink & the

blue are so pretty. I have to get stitching!

FINALLY FINISHED!!

Well - what can I say. It took me long enough! Its

such a cute pattern. If I had the chance to stitch it

again - I would definitely choose a white or cream

aida or a beautiful linen. That way the

colors would POP!

The finished project doesnt look as bright as the pattern.

This mice pattern is definitely worth stitching!

Today was my BIRTHDAY!!

I can not tell you how old I was.

Because I forgot.

Today was a very good day! It started off

very nicely and ended very good. This morning - I

had so many emails and phone calls. In which

all of them wished me a 'happy birthday'.

Many hugs and kisses to all of them.

The morning was spent hanging out with friends

and my daughters. We all had fun eating at Daniels.

Well - lets just say that - my daughters and I ate salads.

My friends ate whatever they wanted. Sometimes being

a celiac can be a bummer - but none of us let it stop us

from having a good time. Afterwards we went back to

my daughters house. She had baked me a gluten-free chocolate

cake. Yum,yum - it sure tasted good! Then my daughter gave me

this cross stitch. It sure was a surprise!

I love Paula Vaughan's work. Since I am a quilter - all of

the quilt scenes (even though they look country) just grab

my heart. The title of this piece is called Summers Remembered.

Leaflet #392. Sorry the photo is not super-clear.

Afterwards we had a great time shopping! When I got

home my dear hubby had dinner made. He cooked up a

gluten-free Pot Roast with potatoes and carrots.

We ate it all!

Kitchen Witch Doll

How could you not love her face!

There are many

Kitchen Witch dolls on the internet. Some of them

fetch a very nice price. A few of these dolls are really

ugly - but the uglier the better in my opinion. Alot of

the dolls are really cute. Its your preference.

A 'Kitchen Witch doll' hangs

in front of your kitchen window. It is suppose to bring

you good luck. And in these hard times - everyone needs

some good luck! Take a look on the internet and read

the poems about these dolls.

Now - you may think that

a witch doll is not a good thing - but actually these are!

How about making a go of

it and make your own. I have a few kitchen witch

patterns but instead of sewing any of them -

I opted for making a porcelain one! No - I didnt make

her. This is a remake blog. I used a doll that I already

owned. Most everyone has a porcelain doll in their home

that they no longer like before they have outgrown the style.

Since I am not selling her then I am not violating any copywrite laws.

All of these kitchen witch dolls that I will be making will be

given away. Witch Faye had to be

propped up on my bed pillow to get a get photo.

Now - I have not seen any full-bodied Porcelain

witch dolls. This is my idea as far as I can see. For many

months, (I am slow), I have been working on 'Witch Faye'.

Yes - I do name any doll that I make.

Witch Faye is not finished.

I still have to make her

shoes/boots, her broom and a string to hang her.

I'm afraid that my camera is not showing

Witch Faye at her best. She has very black hair, I

have painted her lips black.

Witch Faye is a young witch. I love her leopard

bloomers that are edged with pink lace. Her purse

needs some bling and as of yet I am not sure how

I am going to spruce it up.

I even painted her nails black. On this]

hand I intend on giving her a couple of

rings, maybe pearls or perhaps diamonds.

Its according on what I am able to find.

This is Witch Faye's backside. Her bent

hat apparently is my trademark. For me -

on my dolls it seems that the bent hats work

the best. Those that have seen my witch dolls

Permelia and Sophilya on my miniature blogs

have seen their hats. Like I have said before -

I am unable to do ugly or pretty - so I have to

be inbetween those two. The leopard bow and

ruffle matches with the bloomers.

I love this cape with its ruffle! It is so glittery.

Here is another photo of Faye's hat. The leopard

ruffle is so cute. A clip-on pink cameo earring hangs from

her hat. I have tried several times to

get a good photo of the pink cameo but to no avail.

I love the way that

her hat is more towards the back of her head instead

of on top like all of the other witch dolls that I have seen.

I like things that I make to be different.

Do you need to put

your BLOG NAMES OR LINKS on your

photo that is located on someone else's blog.

Do you know how to do that.

Well here are some step by step directions.

1. Sign in to your blog.

2. Once you sign in - you are at the Dashboard.

3. Scroll down towards the bottom. You should

see the word 'MANAGE'. This word is in the color blue.

4. Click on the word 'MANAGE'.

5. A new screen will pop up. You should see your

photo.

6. To the right side of your photo you should see the

words 'ADD LINK'

7. Click on 'ADD LINK'. A little screen appears.

8. Type in your blog address where it says 'URL'

OR 'http'.

9. When finished typing - then click on the word 'ADD'.

10. You should see your 'B' symbol - that means

your blog was added.

11. For each blog that you want to show - then you

must type it in and then click on the word 'ADD'.

After each blog address that you add - you will also

see that 'B' symbol. It indicates how many blog names

that you have added.

Now - all of the new blogs that you want to

follow - should be updated. When you become a follower

to a new blog be sure to check your photo to

make sure that your blog name or links are there.

You are not finished yet. All of those blogs that you

are presently following - that do not have your blog names

or links on them - each will have to be 'MANUALLY' updated.

If you want those blog names or links on those blogs to appear.

Now comes the work! This is what you must do.

In order for someone to see your blog name or link - then

you must delete yourself from their blog. Then go back to

their blog and become a new follower. On their blog - click

on your photo to make sure that your blog names or links

are there. If you see them - then you have done the steps

correctly. If you do not see them - then you have done

something wrong. Go back and try again.

In order for you to see my blog names - I had to use these

same directions. It took me quite a few days to do both of

my blogs.

I hope that you can understand my directions.

Just wanted to tell you

not to overlook or readily dismiss some items. I made

these scissor cases from some of the most unlikely

sources. Although the 'potholders' make large cases

to hold your scissors or your rotary cutter - you might be

lucky to find a very small potholder to hold small

scissors. The idea for these scissor cases surprised me.

Take a look at your towels - thats right. They are

right under your nose. I have 2 hand towels and one

wash cloth. The little 4-patch on the wash cloth was

4.5 inches square. It was just perfect for a case for

my small embroidery scissors.

The other 2 hand towels 4-patch were 5.5

inches square. It holds scissors that were a little

bit larger than my small embroidery scissors.

These little 4-patches were backed with cotton.

This is what they looked like when I cut them away

from the hand towel and the wash cloth. Lucky me!

Now my bare hand towel and washcloth are lonely!

Too bad - I like the little 4-patches as my scissor cases better.

Blogger is fixed!

My sweet hubby finally had enough of my griping

and HE FIXED SOME OF IT!

For all of you that are having trouble try this.

A few months back he updated our computer to

Internet Explorer 8. Things did not go very well

at all when he did that. My sweet hubby ended up

removing Internet Explorer 8 and going back to

Internet Explorer 7.

This time my sweet hubby decided to update to

Internet Explorer 8 - but this time he went to

http://www.microsoft.com/. And he dowloaded

Internet Explorer 8.

The problem is somewhat fixed - now I can see and visit you -

but I still can not comment on your blogs!
(my sweet hubby has already gone to bed so I
will tell him in the morning about not being able to
comment on your blogs - hopefully he can fix that)
My fingers are crossed.

Sweet hubby said to try the steps below for your

followers - because this is what he did!

1. Delete temporary internet files, cookies & history.

2. Check to see what version of Internet Explorer

you have.

3. If it is lower than version 8 - then RE-INSTALL

Version 8.

We hope this corrects your problem also.

Remember those Purses with the bamboo handles!

I am sure that you have seen them before.

Somewhere in my large stash of leaflets is this

pattern with all of those pretty monograms. I dont

think that anyone makes these anymore but if you own

one - then why not remake remix and reuse it! The purse is

truly out of date! Please do not be intimidated by these

long directions. They are truly simple. If you sew then these

directions are not of any use to you - but for someone who

doesn't then I hope that you can understand my directions.

Please read thru them first so you understand before you cut.

You will need one of these purses, some ribbon, needle &

sewing thread, or a sewing machine. Anyone that reads

the tutorials on my miniature blog knows that I stitch most

of my things up with 2 strands of candlewicking thread.

I use what is on hand at the time or what I have. Those

tutorials also show how I sew each piece - as I have used

that same concept here with my handstitching.

Sorry guys - I forgot to take a photo with the bamboo

handles on. These cute lined purses have both sides

which are cross stitched - and they are generally the same.

One side will make a large scissor case & the other side

will make a scissors fob and whatever else you want

out of the fabric. The scissor fob directions have already

been posted before this posting.

Before you cut anything - take a look here at the top

of the purse once the handles are removed. There is a

casing already for you to insert ribbon. And notice that the

side seam is not stitched all the way up to the top of

the purse.

I realize now that I have forgotten a photo - in which

I forgot to snap. But here is what you do. To cut these

apart - simply start on one side of a side seam and cut

around to the other side. This will leave the lining still

stitched to one side. (you will notice in my photos that I did not do this).

But you should - because it will keep your lining sewn down

to where it doesnt get in your way. I had a little more trouble

because I didnt do this.

After they have been carefully cut apart. See those

dog-ears - snip them off. The dog-ears are located at

the bottom of the purse - yea those little flaps.

I hope you were careful when cutting the front & the

back apart. See these side seams - they look nice.

See what I told ya - I didnt stick to one side when cutting

the 2 halves apart.

To begin - make sure that you have some

pins handy. Start at the bottom and be sure

to keep straight the lining and turn under.

See the part that is sticking out beyond

the hem. Fold the bottom up to that - just

as you see here to the inside.

Now - look at the other side. Make sure that

the scroll is even all the way across. You dont want

a lop-sided bottom! When it looks good - then pin it -

with the pin on the green scroll. Do not pin on the

inside of the scissors case as you might not be able to

take them out later.

I hope that you can tell what I am doing. All I am

doing is - finger pressing up the bottom and folding

over the side closest to me. I am trying to get it straight

and also while tucking in those bottom threads before

I pin the bottom closed. I am not worried at this point

about the inside edge. The lining is a little slippery.

Also keep checking the front side with the green scroll.

You want it straight as possible.

I have pinned it in place only once. And I am still

fumbling with it.

There - I have gotten it as straight as I possibly can.

Before I stitch it then I will make sure I straighten it better.

You can machine stitch this closed or hand stitch it

closed. The option is yours. However once you start sewing

up - you will have to hand stitch.

Be sure to double click & make this photo larger to see.

The part that is folded over - I had to pin down on the

front side. Also notice the inside raw edge near the green

scroll. I am not worried about this edge as it will be hidden.

Now flip over the other side - align up the bottom

and pin it. Make sure to straighten it up as good as you

can. Then proceed pinning up towards the casing and fold
the raw edge under as you go.

It is hard to keep it all straight but do it as good as you can.
You can straighten it up more once you begin to stitch.

Here is mine pinned. I will only stitch up to the point

of that last pin - because my pins are long.

Move your pins around to get the best look - unless

you are aready satisfied.

Take one last look - see how far my pin

goes up. You dont want anymore open

than that.

Now make sure that only the back and the lining

are pinned - because you dont want to stitch the

entire thing closed to where you cannot put your

scissors in there.

Start at the bottom and hide your knot on the inside.

There are 2 ways that you can stitch this. You can whip

stitch it closed or hide your stitches. I prefer to hide

my stitches on the inside.

Stitch all the way across to one side and then back

again. This strengthens the bottom.

Now proceed upwards - be sure not to stitch it to the

front side! Keep checking by putting your hand inside
once in a while - to make sure that you dont feel
any stitches.

So far so good!

This is how I measure the ribbon. All I do is wrap the

ribbon around the outside and add what I want for the

length. Cut off the excess ribbon.

I forgot to tell you - that you need a small safety pin.

Put it on the ribbon like the picture shows.

Now thread the safety pin thru the casing all the way

to the other side and pull out to make the ribbon

equal on both sides. Now put knots at the bottom of

each ribbon so the ribbon doesnt pull back thru.

Place your scissors inside and make a pretty bow

on the back with your ribbons. This is the front side.

It holds the scissors very well. You can put a piece

of cardboard on the inside just to stablize it more.

But you dont have to - because its not flimsy. Its sturdy.

Here is the bow on the back.

Be sure to make the matching scissor fob!

The Matching Scissor Fob

This is what the matching scissor fob looks like from

the other half of the purse.

This photo is a little fuzzy but you are able to see

what I am talking about. I wrestled with the idea of

cutting out a large area that encompassed the 'P'

with the 2 side scrolls. That would make a nice large

'pincushion'. Then you would have only the bottom and

the top scrolls to make a fob. But this was not what

I initally wanted to do with it. My main priority was only

to make a scissor fob from this piece. So I decided not

to stray from this. Certainly you can make the pincushion if you

like this idea. The choice is yours.

Around the 'P' - there are 2 strands of threads. Can

you see them? Starting on the bottom part of the right scroll - I cut

inbetween these threads and continued cutting on all

4 sides of the 'P' until I cut it out.

Then I used one of bottom side pieces for the backing.

For those that do not sew - simply place the letter on

top and cut around the square. Be sure to center your

letter on that pretty stitching that is on the purse. No

Pins - just cut around it.

The ribbon length is really 'your choice'. Try not

to cut too long or too short. Sorry but I do not measure

some things and this is one of them. Simply cut a length

and fold it in half.

At the bottom raw ends tie a knot as I have done here.

In this step all I did was place that ribbon knot on the

inside of your front & back piece and pin it in place.

There isnt any need to turn under. You can machine

stitch all the way around if you like. But it only takes

about a minute to hand stitch all around the 4 sides.

And my stitches are not too small nor are they too big.

See my needle. When you finish each little section - then

remove your pins so you dont get stuck. Then when completely

finished knot it off. Be sure to stitch around the ribbon really

good to make sure that it is anchored firmly inside.

When finished sewing - dab on some 'fray check' to keep it

from raveling.

Its a cute set. And it didnt take long at all to make.

Just a couple of free minutes!

This is the rest of the purse. I dont know what I am

going to do with these little pieces. But I can take the

4 scrolls and place them where the scrolls are on the

outside as you see here. Sew 2 of them together for a

front - sew the other 2 together for a back. This would

make a cute pincushion.

Two of the other 3 pieces could become a small

needlebook with some felt inside. There is also a piece

that could be used for the top of a bottlecap pincushion.

The only reason I did not sew any of these together was

because Pepper didnt need any of those items.

Thats another project for later!

Romancing the Southern Belles

The silhouette turned out okay. Its quick and easy.

I liked the color I chose. She is so romantic. But I

did have to fudge some on it. For one thing I didnt

cut it to the correct size.

It didnt dawn on me that the pattern has a mistake in

it. Can you find it. Inbetween the 2 branches is an

empty space that is squared off. It sure did look

odd and I didnt like

it. So I filled it in by myself.

See the pattern shows some of the pattern missing.

My stitching on the right shows where I filled it in.

I added another branch - it still looks a little squared

off but not as bad as what the pattern shows.

When I corrected the spot on my silhouette - it didnt

dawn on me to look at the pillows in the magazine until I had

already stitched it. If I had thought about it - then I would have

copied from this pillow. There isnt any squared off section

on these! I havent decided if I am going to stitch the onther.

of us are having problems seeing our followers

like everybody else - 'what is going on'?

Just a little thing

I havent done much stitching lately except for this

little 'Morning Glory'. This pattern is in the leaflet

by Gloria and Pat. The leaflet is called 'Mini Blessings'.

Its stitched on 14ct off-white aida cloth.

Morning Glory was quick to stitch. I am not

yet sure what I am going to do with this little piece -

but I know that it is going to eventualy go into a

sewing box. It could have a new life as a pincushion,

or cover the top of a small box.

My front yard

is graced with a purplish pink lacecap hydrandea.

As you can see it has grown out of control. But I cannot

bear to trim it back later on in the season.

The lovely lacecaps are taking over my steps! There

is one large miss lilly plant that is peeking out from under

her skirt. This summer miss lilly will have to be

replanted next to her kin-folk on the other side of the porch.

This is just 3 miss lilly plants. In my yard the lillys

grow out of control like everything else does. I used to have

planted here along the row of bricks 'little richards'.

The 'little richards' grew so fast that in 2 years time

they had to be removed. All of the lilly plants that are

in this front yard 'seen or hidden' lined those 'little richard'

bushes in masses! The lilly bushes got so huge!

I got tired of the rows of bushes and decided

that it was time to do something different. So last year I

decided to lay down this brick with the help of my daughter.

We are not finished. I want the brick to wind around the

side of my house towards the gate where my 'Rose of

Sharon' trees are.

This is the 3 miss lilly bushes. My neighbor said that

she has never seen such big bushes of lillies.

Hopefully we can finish the brick and fill it in with

the dirt. Then it will have to be weeded before I

put my little white table and chairs on it. If it doesnt

look good then I will change everything again this

summer.

The name of this bush has escaped my tongue!

Oh I remember now - its a Jasmin. It

has my miss lilly plants planted all around her legs. The lillies

might not bloom because Jasmin is out of control.

Last year I wrestled with her because she kept trying

to hug my porch.

My baywindow has seen so many changes that its

not funny. I used to have a large window box that

stretched the entire width of the 3 windows. Whenever

it rained the dirt would splash on my windows so

it is not there any longer. With the window box removed

I planted these 2 trees that are supposed to grow tall

and thin. I cannot remember their names. But one is

dead already and needs replacing this summer. Another

bush 'bit the dust' and it will get replaced also. But with

what I dont know yet. I see that my 'lacecap hydrandea'

is repopulating her species. I will leave it there and see

what happens. The ground of the flower bed is riddled

with pink, white and purple flox. It doesnt take long for

it to grow wild in my yard. Its already growing over

my bricks.

This little flowerbed is at the end of my porch beside

Jasmin. The pink flowers are pretty.

The garden on my side yard

Just like my Azalea bushes - this side of the

garden has not came into bloom yet. There is always

something blooming at different times in my yard. These

are Rose of Sharon trees. Their flowers are very pretty.

It is a hardy plant. So far I havent killed it! There are

3 of them. On the right is a white one. The large green

one on the left is pink. You cannot see the white one because

its behind that tall light green tree. I have no earthly idea

what that tree is that I planted. In fact I dont recall planting

it but every year it grows taller and its growing fast. I asked

my DH if it was a weed and he said 'no'.

The flower bed is packed full

of Shasta Daisys, purple bearded iris, little red roses and

some more lillies. Mother Nature waters my gardens in

the Spring because I cannot always get out here to do so.

This is what the Rose of Sharon trees look like from

the front of my yard. They are going to need pruning back

if I want to enter in through this side of the yard. I will take more

pics when everything on this side blooms. Which shouldnt be

too much longer.

One of my Gardens

from the side of my yard. The green bush above my

hydrandeas is a Lady Banks. In early spring she blooms

little yellow flowers all over which resemble little roses. She is so

pretty when she blooms. Intermingled here and there

is some purple wisteria. The wisteria is still in her

infancy. I would like for the Lady Banks and the Wisteria

to eventually consume the fence all the way to the front

of the yard. My soil loves Hydrangeas.

This hydrandea bush is only one bush.

All of this greenery are different types of plants -

However there are about 4 more different Hydrandeas

planted in this flower bed.

The plant bed is quite long. There are beared iris, lillies

and some wisteria, along with some other plants

that are buried here. I cannot remember all of

their names.

Me thinks that the rose bush has seen its better days.

Perhaps this summer I will get rid of it and put something

else in its place.

I didnt mean to highlight my trash can. Somehow it just

happened that way. Many years ago I bought this iron trellis

for about 80 dollars. Not knowing where I was going to

put it - it just got laid down beside the fence and thats

where it stayed. The next thing that I knew the trash can

got put there. Anyway Lady Banks took hold on it and now

she is heading to the other side. One thing about this

set-up is - if it rains while you are throwing away your garbage

then you can stand under this green parasol and not get

wet!

These Azalea bushes are located opposite my blue

hydrandea bush and the trash can.

They bloom white, an old pink and a modern pink.

I see one has died already. Well I will replace it

this summer with some new ones.

Yep another one 'bit the dust'.

When others start getting their gardens ready for

Spring - then I am stuck indoors trying to sleep

away these allergies! I miss most of the Beauty of

Spring.

It is the summer when I plant anything!

What is this - you ask! This is a toothbrush holder.

Ooh - La - La makes it. They made companions for

this holder but I never bought them. I am sorry now

that I didnt. I am always on the look-out for the

makings of a new SCISSOR HOLDER!

The top of the holder is a hat! I like the colors of

black, pink, white and a little bit of green. Looks

a little bit romantic. Most of all its girly and I like that!

On this photo I was trying to get you a better look

at the design on the bottom. That didnt work.

It came from K-mart. I wonder if they have any more

of Ooh - la - la.

See it works great! It doesnt even tip over. This is

so cute - this is a keeper!

Start looking at those toothbrush holders.

You might have something as cute as this one

lurking under your bathroom cabinet thats

just sitting there!

Glittery Purple Blooming

This is the second Purple Blooming that I have made

since giving the first Biscornu to Tatyana of Mouse

House. I am always experimenting on what next to

do with a Biscornu. This time Purple Blooming is

glowing! I hope you can see the glitter along the purple seams.

The photos do not show the full impact of the bicornu.

As on the first Purple Blooming Biscornu - I used a

Swarvoski Pearl. Again I have used the same pearl.

However this time I have put the glitter on top of the

pearl to give it a sun-look. Glitter also decorates

the top of the yellow x's. I dont know if you can see

the glitter in this photo.

But the yellow x's glow here! I have also

added another magnet to the inside.

Again for the back I glittered the Swarvoski Pearl.

I used yellow glitter glue for the front and the back.

This Biscornu has turned

out so pretty with the glitter glue. There are about 8
color pens to choose from. I decided on yellow because there
was yellow in the biscornu. You just wouldnt believe

how pretty it looks. This one was suppose to be mine - however

I gave this Biscornu to Linda. When she saw it she loved
the way it glittered! Enjoy the Biscornu Linda.
I will make me another one. There isnt any telling what
I do with that one.

The idea of Potholder

Scissor Cases is not a new idea. I dont know who

started it - but it makes a great scissor case. I couldnt

find a tutorial on how to make these. But I am sure

there is one out there - I just cant find it.

If you think about it - see if your rotary cutter

will fit in one of these. These potholders will be holding

2 scissors in 2 separate pockets. So in case

you cant find a tutorial either - I have given some directions

on how to make them.

This is so easy that you probably dont need my

directions however for those that do - here it goes.

Gather you up some potholders. I think that any

size will work. Just keep in mind the the smaller

the potholder - then its use would be for small scissors.

The bigger the potholder is for the bigger scissors.

The 2 flowered potholders are 7 inches square.

The white potholder is a little under 7 inches square.

The purple potholder is 5.5 inches X 6 inches. None of

these measurements include the loops.

Basically the first thing that you have to do is to

fold the left side into the middle. Just place your

scissors on the inside to see if they fit - but keep

holding it.

If it feels good to you, then finger press the left

side down. Now fold over the right side down

onto the left side and make sure that the bottom

of the potholder comes to a point. You dont want a

shart point - just a pretty point.

Place a few pins on it to hold it together. Thread

your sewing needle with good thread that matches

the potholder. I use Candle wicking yarn so my needle

is a little fat.

If you felt like it you could glue this down but I prefer

to stitch it in case I want to reuse it later. With your

threaded needle start at the top of the fold and stitch

down the length of the potholder.

When you get down to the bottom just pause for

a couple of seconds. Finger press and knot off the

thread.

Place your scissors inside of the little pocket to make

sure that they fit like you want them to. My scissors

do not fit properly so I have to anchor some stitches

beside the hanging loop.

Now fold over the right side onto the left side &

try to make it pretty. Finger press it closed.

Start at the bottom where the point is. Place your

knot on the inside. Start stiching that point closed.

Keep holding it closed & continue stitching up.

Once you get close to the top of the flap. Then stop.

At this point you can stitch straight up to the point

of the flap OR you can fold this piece down & hold

it down with your finger to stitch a little open flap.

On this white potholder I decided to stitch all the way

up to the point of the flap.

Even though you cannot see the little scissors - the

scissor fob lets you know that there are a pair of

small scissorrs tucked inside. If you use a white

potholder you can decorate it with cross stitch,

yo-yo's or any kind of trim that you would like.

I have decided to leave mine simple & bare.

Well, Tatiana's gift is well on its way to her New Home!

Hopefully she receives it soon. When I designed and

stitched this Biscornu - I had her in mind. Here it was

in the beginnings of Spring - and where she was living

there was new found SNOW!

Who couldnt use needles and a Biscornu. I hope that

If you have 15 minutes....

then you can stitch up this bag. I have been

making these bags for about a year now.

My daughters & my grandchildren use them.

You can make these bags different ways but

I always opt for the easiest & the quickest.

I reuse anything that I can - including those

ribbons that come from those fancy bags at

department stores. In fact that is where these

ribbons came from. Read these directions till

you understand them. They are long only

because I want them to be clear.

The directions for this bag are different than

the other bags that I have made in the past.

This bag does not close - but you can

certainly make it to where it does close.

This bag is also unlined. Your materials

list is really small.

Materials for one bag:

a pair of pants or capri's with side pocket or pockets

ribbon

sewing machine

cutting scissors

pins

one safety pin

---------------------

This is just another view of the bag.

Generally all of these types of bags I make - are made

from long pants or capri's. The only ones that I cut up

are the items that have side pockets. These particular

pants are a soft baby green & are made from linen.

They are still beautiful & so soft!

Linen is my favorite fabric & I have tons of it!

So grab a pair of your pants or capri's that has worn out or you

have outgrown. Just make sure that it has a side pocket

or many pockets on the side. If your pants have pockets

on both legs - then thats a bonus. You can get 2 pretty

bags! These pants only have a side pocket on one of the

legs so I will only be cutting the one side.

So lets get started!

Take your pants & fold them to wear you see

the side with the pocket. Now look at the pants & locate

the side pocket. It is here where you must decide how big

do you want or need your bag to be. Now on this particular

pair of pants the pocket is located on the upper

thigh. So to keep the bag from being too long

(because I dont need a long bag),

then I will cut off a lot at the bottom of the pants.

To cut - look at your cutting mat. Make sure your

pants are straight & even on the mat. No bulges!

Just decide

where you want to cut it - & use those lines

as a cutting guide. But be careful fabric

can slip if its not pinned down. Since these

are just bags - I dont worry about too much

slippage or being fussy. Just try to cut as

straight as you can. Cut the bottom off if you

are ready. Now go to the top of the pants leg & cut

as close to the crotch as you can. As you can

see on my pants there is only about 4 inches from

the top of the side pocket to the crotch where I cut

it.

Now this is your bag - notice that the side seams

are already there - you dont have to worry about

that. And they are probably very pretty seams.

Make sure that you turn the pants to the wrong side!

At this point, run a line of pins from one side of the bag to the

other side. Go to the sewing machine and sew a straight

stitch from side to side. Afterwards remove the pins.

Now cut off any excess fabric.

For good measure - I stitched over my previous stitching

with a couple more stitchings just to give it strength.

Also I zig-zagged it. You can use fray check here if you

want to but you dont have to. The bottom is finished.

At the top - fold over and turn under a small bit of

fabric to hide your raw edge & pin it. Place your ribbon

on top - make sure that you have enough of a

casing so the ribbon can move. You dont want a fat hem but

you dont want a skinny hem either.

Now pin the edge all the way around the top of the

bag. Sew the hem down & remove the pins as you

go - BUT start & stop at each of the 2 seams. Leave

small openings here to allow for the ribbon.

Decide on how long you want your ribbons to be.

Cut them if necessary. Cut 2 ribbons.

Put a safety pin on one of your ribbons so you can thread it

thru one of the spaces in the seam. Come out on the other

side. This is one ribbon & you must thread thru the seams

2 ribbons. One ribbon goes thru one side & the

other ribbon goes thru the other side. So that one each

side of the bag there are 2 ribbons that come out from

the seams that were left open. See the next photo.

I hope that you can see what I have done here. Now

go to one of the seams. Match up the 2 ribbons & sew

a seam down them. Here you are connecting the 2 ribbons

together. Sew them together multiple times. You dont want

them coming apart. Then stitch up the ribbons at the

other seam.

Now its time to hide those ribbon seams. On the other

side seam pull of the ribbon until the one seam goes

into the hem. Now do the other side. This should

hide those ugly ribbon seams.

See - those seams are going bye-bye!

Now pull out some of the ribbon on one of the side

seams. Do not pull the side that has the ribbon seam

in it. Do the same to the other side.

What I did here first was - to gather up the top edges

by pulling the ribbons. Make sure that the ribbons even up

on each side. Once it is gathered like I want & the ribbons

are lined up evenly -

then on one side I align the ribbons together

& sew that side down along the seam as you see here.

Then repeat for the other side.

A Southern Belle

This lovely pattern is featured in the Cross Stitch

magazine Oct-Nov 1991. The designer is Darla

Fanton. She has placed 2 Southern Belle patterns

in this issue. I changed the color that she had listed

because I didnt want it to be that dark. The color

I chose is DMC 334. You know what I did. I was so

anxious to start on this pattern that I mistakenly cut

11ct Aida instead of the regular 14ct. I stitched half

of the pattern before I realized that mistake. Oh well.

Anyway the pattern is going to get really close to the

edges..... Thats a scary thought. But as long as it fits

then I wont worry about it. Its going to be bigger than

I want however I can live with that also.

This pattern has been quick to stitch up

so far. I hope that tree is the same. You know these

days I just have to make mistakes.

Everything went okay until I started stitching up the tree.

I must have gotten tired at that point. The moral of this

story is - dont stitch when you are sleepy.

Purple Blooming Patterns

Well folks - here are the patterns for Purple

Blooming. If you notice on the first pattern one of the

stems on the one long tulip is not connected. It

is intentionally to be left like that. I wanted the

stem to appear like it was broke. I did try other colors

but they either looked loud or to subdued. The color Purple

just looks like it belongs with this pattern. Enjoy.

Purple Bloomin'

Here is my new Biscornu to commerate Spring. Purple

tulips are blooming & softly the petals fall. I wanted

to put a yellow crystal in the middle to help represent the

sun - but I couldnt find one. I had to make do with

beautiful Swarvoski pearls!

Both the front & the back can be completed in one

day. This is the front.

This is the back.

And I did place a magnet inside just to hold a needle

or a small pair of scissors.

Here are the 2 pieces after they were stitched.

not Halloween. Catherine over at DiamondC's

sent me 2 of these cute ornaments a few months

back. And I

have just now gotten around to stitching

them! This first one I did a little bit

different than what the instructions said.

Instead of cross stitching it straight - I

stitched it so the eyes all angled. I dont

think that it looks bad. I cant wait to stitch

the other one but for now it has to wait.

Sorry it took me so long to post something

new - but I had to get my dollhouse up to

speed for the other blog. Anyway another

Biscornu is on the way!

This ornament is so quick & easy! And

it glows in the dark. How cool is that!

You need to stitch up some of these cute

ornaments. But I do need to tell you

that the kit did not have enough of the

glow thread. I ran out & had to do the

eyeballs in blue.However I am still happy with it!

Scissor Fobs

A fast scissor fob can be made from most

anything. Try these plastic tear-shaped

crystals. They come in a large plastic box

as you see here. It contains small ones and

large ones and they have holes at the top

so you can string clear thread thru them.

But here I have used them for scissor fobs.

Just thread a long length of narrow ribbon

through the hole, knot them as you wish.

Use the small crystals for your small scissors.

Use the large crystals for your large scissors.

One of these boxes makes a lot of scissor

fobs - maybe your friends need some too!

Calendar Bears

Calendar Bears is a Kit that is retired.
It was designed by Vikki Hart & was
from Design Works. It was stitched on
14ct Aida. The finished size is 14" X 18".

It's a Sunbonnet Sue that truly looks dated!

This large piece measures 11 inches wide X

14 inches long. It needs to be taken

out of its wood frame. Even though you cannot

see it - it is bunching up in some parts of it.

I don't remember

the year of when I stitched this piece.

I think it was perhaps in the latter part of the 80's

or early 90's. This pattern is by Dale Burdett
of Burdett Publications dated 1984. It was called Goose in
Patchwork Block. I am not into ducks or oriental scenes

anymore. I am trying to find a use for it. Maybe

a scissors case??

Sorry aboout that! I have been so busy.
The front pattern shows the yellow

floss on white 14ct aida. All I did was

to reverse the floss & aida colors.

I like the simpleness of it - and I hope

that you do also.

Would love to see some photos or

at least know that you are

stitching them. You dont have to

stitch these patterns into

biscornu's! They would look great

stitched onto boxes or made into
