Christmas Angel toppers

Hello Everyone!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

 

Today's topic is Angels.

I know everyone at one point in

time has had at least one of these

Christmas Angels on their trees!

There are so many different kinds and

they are all beautiful. They get prettier

every year. I happen to love

the lacy ones, but over time being stored

in your attic, they become yellowed and

age really fast. The inside plastic becomes

brittle and yellowed. They may have lost the

pretty bows that once adorned them.

The lace begins to look tattered. Well I

have many of these angels.

At one time I

put Angels all over my tree - so I have plenty of them.

When I bought them, I cut the inside

plastic away and just sat them on the 

branches. My tree was gorgeous that year! Of course this

was many years ago that I did this. Every

year my ornaments seem to change.

 

This year I noticed that I had a few

lovely Angels that had yellowed really bad!

I know that you cannot see the yellow

but they are yellowed!

The 3rd picture

shows some yellow spots just above the

lace. Their hair is still very nice, but

I do not have any intention of remaking

over these Angels.

 

Well - it is time to reuse these Angels!

So I got to work. My trusty paper scissors

helped me cut away those yellowed plastic

cones. Then I grabbed my little red

handled pliers. That is my favorite

(tear-up) tool of destruction!

 This was the only Angel that was small. I tore away

the inside lights also. I will use them somewhere

else. The dress looks white but I assure you it

is yellow! I do not know why my pics have made

them bright! Strange!!!

 The yellow plastic came out easy in

this little doll. The holes in the plastic

held the lights. Most of these plastic

things come out really easy with very little

glue to clean out of the heads or body.

 Here are the bodies. Yep - I tore up all 4 of them!

I will donate their heads, arms and what little bodies

they have. I will also donate the wings.

Crafters would love to get their hands on them and

remake them over.

I know it is Christmas - but these little dolls could

also be made into HALLOWEEN WITCHES for

next year. Put on your thinking caps and imagine

it. Be sure to tear off the gold wreath on the

little angels head if she is not going to be an Angel

anymore.

 Hoo-ray!! Tide and a little bleach whitened them

up very nicely! Even the yellow spots came out.

 I noticed that the fat wings to the left is still a little

yellow but it is brighter! It could be that those wings

should not have been bleached.

 The bodice and sleeves on this dress did not clean

up like the lace. I remember the bodice and sleeves

being a beautiful white. It might be because of the fabric

it is. And so I will cut away that fabric.

Oh well - they still look better.

These laces are going to be used for my miniature

dresses that I am going to make. The lace will look

gorgeous!!

Winter White

I am getting there! I was

late putting up my tree. This year

I have dressed it in white with small

touches of red. I did not put an Angel

on the tree. I decided to leave it bare.

I think there are enough ornaments to

keep it busy that you hardly notice

it isn't there.

 This pic was taken at night. I had a hard time

snapping them. Nearly all of them were blurry.

 This pic shows some of my ornaments. There are

white bells with red ribbons, white flowers, white bulbs and white

christmas tree and white snowmen ornies.

I love white or clear lights.And that it the only

ones that I ever use. The packages are wrapped

with christmas paper with red words that say

'Merry Christmas!'

 Only 4 pics took. 2 in the daytime and 2 at night.

I did not decorate the outside of my house this year.

Generally every year I decorate with many wreaths.

I even decorate my little stair bannister. But

this year I got lazy.

A cute little Santa Star

is a pattern by Sam Hawkins. The design comes from

his book called '520 Christmas Cross-Stitch Designs. It's located on page 9.

It stitches up very quickly. I hope to be able to

stitch up many little designs & then make them all

into ornaments. Next year I plan on starting early.

Hopefully I can stitch up at least 1 or 2 ornaments a week.

And then in November I can fix them in order to display

them on my tree. So I have a goal - lets hope that I can

stick to it & do it while stitching up other items as well.

The Enchanted Sleigh

is a pattern by Susan Brack. My daughter stitched this for

me back in 1993. I absolutely adore it. As you see, it still

has not been made into anything nor has it ever been framed.

I just love to look at it. I cannot find the pattern for it although

I know that I have it somewhere.

Santa Moon

This is the beginning post for NIGHTCAPS.

This label is reserved for

small cross stitch items that you stitch

while riding in the car with someone,

waiting at doctors office's

or just before you retire for the night. It doesn't

matter how long that it takes to complete these

small projects - just that you do. I just

love these small Stitch-n-hang ornament,

greeting card kits. This one is called 'SANTA MOON'.

They are easy &

quick and this kit had never been opened.

This is first kit that I encountered that

some thread was missing. And I didn't catch the

mistake until after I finished it. Normally I never take

any of these small kit threads & sort them out. Mainly because

there is never alot of threads. Mostly you can see them at a glance.

It never dawned on me to make

sure all the threads were there. Well, the light blue thread

was not there and so I accidentally stitched it in the

medium blue not giving the lighter blue color another

thought. What was I thinking? Anyway that was the only

trouble I had with this kit. And you know me I will not pull

out that mistake. I will only work with it the best that I can.

It will have to be really bad for me to pull out those stitches.

So, dont you agree - its not a big deal.

I didn't back stitch the entire piece. I didnt want to make any of

the greenery stand out. Also I almost forgot. I stitched

the blue cap a little further down than intended & I left out those

white dots. But all in all its not too bad. Unless you

have the pattern you are not going to see any of the mistakes anyhow.

Merry Christmas!

Tree Ornaments. Some are elegant, country, christmassy,

or are derived from nature. I have found that those ornaments

that sit on a shelf & are leggy make to be some of the cutest

pincushions ever. Right now there are 2 of those that sit on the top of my

sewing machine ready to do duty - after the holidays away

they will go until next year - or those might find a new home & new

ones will take their place. Some of the best

pincushions can come from those tree ornaments - so start looking

at them in a different light. Be sure to pick those ornaments

that are not too soft & not too hard - pick inbetween.

A woman can never have enough

pincushions - that is if you sew alot. They come in handy when you

velcro it to the side of an ironing board, are close to your sewing

machine & near or on your cutting table. With a little imagination

you can fill up a little basket with these little ornaments & be able to

pick & choose which one you want to stick. These are so cute & they do

bring a smile to your face when you look at them. If you know

someone that loves to sew, a basket of these ornaments

would be so cute

as a gift - just be sure to leave a note inside telling them

what they are used for other than just christmas ornaments.

Many of these can be bought at family dollar stores - for as

little as 50 cents each. Purchase as many as needed for the size of the basket

that you are giving.
