A Linen Needlebook

This is just one idea - of what to do with that toilet roll holder. It has many

uses and since I cannot cross stitch on linen (because of

my eyes) - this seemed to be a perfect idea. It didnt take long to make.

Be sure to click on photos. The 2cd picture shows the reverse side.

This was the first time that I have ever stitched a blanket stitch - so its

not perfect you guys. The place where you stuff the toilet

rolls is where you place your objects that you want to store.

It holds needles, pins, scissors, floss - lots of things!

Do you notice the ring is

still attached. The reason

for this is because you can still hang it up.

I closed mine with some old snaps but you could use

some pretty reasons, rick-rack or whatever you choose.

What was just an

ordinary box becomes useful & more meaningful when

given to a special friend. Personalize the box

to your friend's needs. She can put this little box beside

the sewing machine or on the table next to her chair.

I wanted one side to hold a little pair of scissors so I took

a small piece of white aida cloth & sewed on 3 small

green buttons & then glued it to the side of the little box.

Be sure to pouf the aida cloth some before you glue so that

the scissors will fit.

On one side I glued a little magnet to hold needles. Be careful when

you pick up this box it could BITE, if you put a lot of needles on the magnet.

Inside is pincushion that is 2 inches deep. I didnt

glue it anything in. I packed the inside with poly-fil

then cut a piece of fabric, gathered around the edges

& stuffed that. Then I put it on top of the stuffing.

So far it has stayed in place.

This project only took me 5 to 10 minutes to make.

Now, back to working on some cross stitch!

Make someone

something special from a little box that only measures a

little under 4 inches tall & 2 inches wide. The inside is only

2.5 inches deep. Boxes like these can be bought from dollar stores

or thrift stores. Maybe your friend has one that she wants to get

rid of. This box happens

to be in a country garden motif. No problem - dont change the

colors or anything. Just work with it. Make it into

anything that you want & display it.

This pattern for

12 hearts might not be any better than the first
one that I gave. The pink is hard to see.. Sorry folks
but I cant seem to get a good photo - I will keep trying.
