My new Floss Holders

Look at these lovely floss holders
that my friend Catherine (diamondC) sent to me.
Aren't they gorgeous!
She made the pastel blue heart from clay. The pretty
wood one she had 2 of them and generously shared one
with me.
Thank you Catherine - I love them both.
I cannot tell you which one is my favorite. They are
both so gorgeous!
Many hugs & kisses to you all,

Double Decker Floss Bobbin

I have taken many spins around the internet
looking for this floss bobbin. And I cannot find
it anywhere so I am still hoping that it is safe
to put on this blog. If not then Please
tell me and I will gladly remove it.

These floss holders are a little glittery or super
shiny. You can cut it out of cardboard, wood or
whatever you want to use.
However take a good
look at the meat trays. You know when you
buy your meat at the grocery store and
they put your hamburger on one of those
white or black meat trays - then they wrap
it up in plastic wrap with the price on top
and hand it to you. Those are the meat trays
that I am talking about. These floss bobbins
remind me of those meat trays!
Or you can use thin
foam from the craft store but the foam is not
glittery like this floss bobbin.

These floss bobbins are thin and
I cannot remember
if those meat trays are thin or thick. But I
guess it would not matter.  The thick might be much
more sturdier.
Anyway, I cannot stress enough about using
those meat trays cause they are FREE with
your meat!

You should be able to cut out
at least 2 of these floss bobbins from each
meat tray, if you use them.
If you use wood or a heavy cardboard
then line them up side by side, and cut out with
scissors or a saw. Stain or paint the wood,
or cover them with fabric using glue.
However I do not think that glue and fabric
will work if you use the meat trays. Make
them as pretty as you like or keep them
plain - the choice is yours.

Use a hole
puncher to make the hole at the top.
Cut slits on the sides so that your
threads or your ribbons etc can slide
into those slits to lock in place.

Please do not be intimidated. These
floss holders are super simple!!

Click click to print it out.
On these next 3 photo's are the measurements of
the double decker floss holder.

Wrap your ribbons around it or your small rick-rack.
I am sure that you can find lots of uses for this
bobbin besides floss. Would love to see a photo
if you use this.
Thanks for visiting me. Come back soon.

Well, I needed something to hold

all of those little thread spools in - and this little pouch just fit the bill perfectly.
I couldnt tell you how long that I held onto this jewelry pouch.
Inside, there are small pockets to hold
your small items. No need to use the pockets - just throw all of your
spools of thread no matter how small or large they are into this cute jewelry
pouch and display it. These little spools come in sewing
kits & they come in handy in your sewing room. You probably cannot
see the ties in which to cinch up the pouch. Do not overlook these
jewelry pouches any longer because they can hold a variety of
things in your sewing room. A great idea is to make a giant
pincushion to fit the inside, then draw the strings closed around it
making sure that you glue it shut. I know - but I just cant
help this obsession that I have with PINCUSHIONS!!
I am really getting out of control.
Anyway I am sorry that the picts are a little blurry,
but you get the idea. I bought everyone of these little
threads of spools (over 50 of them, brand new)
at the neighborhod thrift store for $1.00. They get used
moreso now than before since I have placed them where
I can see them. HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

Take an empty unused basket..

and turn it into something useable. Baskets come in
handy for most everything so why not make a little sewing basket. I lost this
little sewing basket once it was finished to my
youngest daughter. She loves the 70's look & wanted it. On the
left is the empty basket with its matching lid - not a spoke
was broken. On the right is the finished basket. I intertwined
pretty wide white lace through the spokes & hot glued it to the inside.
Next, I cut fabric & lined the inside tacking it down with hot glue.
Then, I cut a circle of cardboard, stuffed it, added fabric & glued it to the bottom.
I cut fabric for the inside lid & also glued that in. Then I applied
a yo-yo & sewed on the button. AC Moore had the cutest
little wooden eggs - so I bought a small bag of them. They
make the cutest little egg darners - just the perfect size for this small
basket. The matching pincushion is less than 2 inches in
diameter. That gives you an idea of how small this basket is!
A small matching bag holds a thimble - nothing fancy here.
Needles can be pinned to the little piece of brown felt.
Also on board are 2 small wooden spools, one holds
some little flower lace wrapped around it while the other smaller
spool has chocolate brown candlewicking yarn. The little red
item is a needle threader. The floating piece of flower lace
was attached to my wedding veil 35 years ago - in which now
will be attached to the end of a pair of small scissors. Last of all
is the little angel that watches over my angel. Fixing the
outside of the box was not hard.
It is also another pincushion
designed to hold safety pins or homeless items. To me the outside
looks like a hat but I knew that there would not be any way to downplay
that - that is the reason why I didnt add any ribbons, rosettes or any
yo-yo's to the outside - so I am happy
with the way that it turned out. Hope you get some ideas!
