My White Quilt

Whole White Quilts are lovely!!
This one is a bridal quilt that I made. The pattern came
from a Better Homes and Gardens book called
'Creative American Quilting'.
I love this book! Unfortunately this was the only
quilt that I made from this book. I love the traditional
quilts and vowed to do more - but I was so busy
working and raising my daughters that I am sure
that I put this book aside to do some that were not
so complicated. I still own this book!
I copied all of the wreath patterns and the braid
from the book to use as my patterns and enlarged
them as directions stated.
The middle of the quilt has a large feathered
medallion with interlocking rings and has cross-
hatching. Two smaller wreaths are on either side
of the large medallion with cross-hatching.
Then each corner has another wreath with
cross-hatching but no interlocking rings.
I made this quilt with 2 very nice 100% cotton sheets
that had a high thread count. One large sheet for the
the front and one large sheet for the backing.
With periodical small breaks - it took me close to a year to hand quilt.
Its very intricate as you can see.
Out of all of my quilts, this is my favorite!

I hope you have enjoyed my quilt. Thank you for
visiting me!

My Tulip Flower Applique Quilt

In my opinion, this is one of the best
applique quilts that I have made.
It contains a 9-patch, large floral squares
and the applique tulip flower blocks.
The photo really doesnt do the quilt justice!
Back in 1984, my friend gave me a set of lightweight
cotton curtains because she did not want
them anymore. I am not sure that she did
not give me a set, but only one panel, because
I would have made the quilt bigger.
As you can see this is where the curtain ended
up at!
I realize that you cannot see the hand quilting
in the floral squares - all of that quilting is
criss-crossed.  The tulip is turned under and hand stitched
down as is the stem and the leaves. It is hand quilted with
basically a sunburst. The 9-patch has x's hand quilted
in them. As with generally all of my quilts, the
backing is a 100% cotton white quilt.
This quilt has never been used.

I hope you have enjoyed looking at my quilt.

My Windmill Quilt

I cannot remember what this quilt is
called - its name eludes me! So I call
it my Windmill quilt.
It simply amazes me that no matter
how long I have quilted - you can still forget
some of the names of the patterns!
And neither do I remember where I got this pattern from.
This top is a cream muslin mixed with solids
and prints.
I hand stitched it in an easy pattern that did not
take long to hand quilt.
If anyone knows the name of it - please tell me.

I hope you enjoyed viewing this quilt.

My Pink Drunkards Path Quilt

My Pink Drunkards Path...
It is one of the fastest and easiest to make, that
is, if you can sew the half rounds!
This top only consists of 2 pattern pieces.
A lovely pink flannel and a pristine white cotton.
I hand quilted with no pattern.
Even though some of the lines
are not straight as an arrow - it doesnt take away
from the beauty of this quilt.
Hope you like this one.

My Monkeys Wrench or Tulip Quilt

Blue, soft butter yellow, cream and off-white!
I am notorious for using sheets in my quilts,
whether they are in squares or stripped for borders.
I have forgotten the name of this quilt pattern also.
I hand quilted this in a fan design.
Three different borders make up the top, bottom
and sides. I didn't have much of this fabric so I used
what I had.
The backing is also a matching cotton sheet.

I hope you enjoyed viewing this quilt.

My Windmill Quilt

This is a feel good color for a quilt.
Who doesn't love a soft yellow!
I love the vintage flowered sheet backing used here
and I
still have another one of these sheets in my attic
to be used on the back of a different quilt.
Again this quilt uses scraps,
but the yellow used here is not a sheet.
Can you believe that I actually bought
this fabric back then.
Some of the hand stitching is hard to see.
The plain yellow squares have a basket pattern
quilted in them. As does the smaller triangles.
The borders are stitched in straight lines and
every so often I stitched a basket.

My scrappy 4-patch quilt

This is a 2 generation quilt...
stitched together using scraps in the early 80's.
These 4 patches are not small nor are they
very big. The 4 patches make up about a 6 inch
block and alternated with cream squares.
My mother helped me hand quilt this one. She did
a lot of hand quilting on this quilt. On this
quilt I never bothered with using a quilting pattern
as most of it is free handed. The only exception
is the border where I stitched a cable
that I lightly drew on.
This quilt has never been used either.
It will always hold a special place in my heart
- especially since the death of my mother.

My Grandmother's Fan Quilt

This is the only Grandmother's Fan quilt
that I have ever made.
The blocks are big at least 17 inches square.
The prints that you see here are all from cotton sheets,
with the exception of the red.
The colors go very good together.
The binding is machine stitched with a
gold color thread for strength. I had intentions of using
this quilt but never did.
The hand quilting is simple just stitching around
each fan shape. A heart bow is stitched in the
white areas. The red makes this quilt pop!

My Scrappy 9-patch and Star quilt

I hope you like purple!
The purple squares that you see are really
a sheet that I cut up into squares.
Scraps were used for all of the blocks.
The quilt backing is a pale yellow cotton sheet.
It is hand stitched in a fan pattern over the entire
quilt.

I hope you enjoyed viewing this quilt.
